Filda Adoch has drawn a new sense of pride from her encounter with the photographer Martina Bacigalupo. In the pictures, she realised that she was strong. Her status changed : White people had come from far away to see her. Journalist Anne Chaon also shared in the daily life of this ’woman standing tall’.

Aravind, created by an ophthalmologist surgeon who has since passed away, performs over 300 000 eye operations annually. Jacques Vekemans went to find out how it works.
